Active and Sustaining Patronato Docents

Roles & Responsibilities Overview:

Active Docents
  • Active Docents are required to be up to date with the most recent Docent training and protocols and to maintain ethical standards and behaviors while volunteering on the Mission grounds.
  • Active Docents have committed to provide 100 hours of service to the organization annually or 8 hours of service each month they are resident in Tucson. A year extends from July 1 through June 30. Participation in committee work counts against service hours.
  • In addition, Active Docents are required to attend the majority of quarterly meetings, in person or via Zoom, each year (meeting attendance counts toward service hours).
  • Docents are required to maintain $60 annual Docent Dues along with maintaining an active Friend of Patronato status at the Individual Level of $50 or more.
  • Docent Dues assist the Patronato in hosting the Quarterly Docent Meetings and funding the honorariums for guest speakers at those meetings along with other expenses associated with the Docent Program.

Sustaining Docents
  • Sustaining Docents are an alumni group comprising docents who have been members of the Patronato San Xavier Docent Program and who are wishing to step down from formal touring either permanently or for a period.
  • Sustaining Docents have no service requirements but enjoy the benefits and are welcome to attend quarterly meetings, docent field trips and the annual luncheon.
