Join Patronato docent Craig Reid on a journey through the Spanish mission period.
He will highlight missionaries who impacted Mission San Xavier and how the village people adapted to the many changes. You’ll also enjoy the fascinating story behind the restoration of the statue of Mary — Immaculate Conception — in October 2015.
A National Historic Landmark, our Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church’s interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. It’s a place where visitors can truly step back into the 18th Century.
