Mission Tours

With the permission of the Parish, Patronato San Xavier offers docent-led tours of Mission San Xavier to convey the history and wonder of this extraordinary church. Each tour is approximately 30 minutes and requires no advance registration.

Donations welcome. The Parish dictates that there is no charge for tours, but every donation received in the envelopes provided by the docents goes directly to Patronato and is used for preservation projects at the church. (Cash donations left in receptacles throughout the church buildings are used by the parish for parochial purposes.)

Public Tours take place several times a day (depending on the time of year) Monday through Saturday. Docents are community volunteers trained in the history, architecture, and culture of the Mission and its surroundings. Tours offer an opportunity to learn a little about the extraordinary work accomplished by the Patronato organization, preserving the church and other buildings of historic importance so that you might enjoy them today. To date over $18 million has been raised and spent.

Note: In order to comply with Parish directives to preserve the church as a sacred space for worshippers, tours take place on Mission grounds but do not include the church interior. All visitors are welcome to visit the church on their own before or after a tour.

Public tours are offered on a donation basis Monday through Friday and, when possible, on Saturday.

Gift Shop Hours:

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
