Patronato's Docent Program

The Docent Program

The Mission Docent Program began in 2011 and is directed by Patronato San Xavier, and constitutes the third strand of the organization’s mission; “interpreting the significance of Mission San Xavier del Bac, a National Historic Landmark.” The docents provide donation-based, thirty minute tours, six days a week.

Tours highlight the Wa:k community prior to the arrival of the Spanish, the arrival of Fr Kino and the establishing of the Mission in 1692, and construction of main church in the late 1700s. Insights are provided about the architecture and building of the current church and the efforts of Patronato San Xavier to preserve it.

Become a Docent

We are in the process of building our number of active docents. If you are interested in becoming a docent, please fill out the contact form. Someone will contact you with further information about orientation and training, and to answer questions.

Docent Training:

Training is offered only to those who have completed New Docent Orientation. Both Orientation and Training are available in the Fall and Spring based on number of interested individuals. Contact us for more information!

By sharing Mission San Xavier del Bac’s unique story with our visitors, we educate and inspire in order to secure the future of this culturally significant at-risk site.
